Show us a book you feel like you should read, but just can't bring yourself to actually pick up.
I actually own a copy, which claims to be "the original version of Russia's most famous novel which never made it to publication in Tolstoy's lifetime. A closely guarded secret for a century and a half, this version -- with its different emphases and dialogue, and a new ending -- is essential reading for devotees of Tolstoy and new readers alike..."
More than once I've tried to read it. Yet each and every time I put it down after about 100 pages. It's baffling, really: I've read Le Comte de Monte Cristo so many times the copy is actually falling apart; yet War and Peace remains rather new looking.
Maybe Tolstoy is just not for me.

Current favourite: the latest whipped shortbread cookies I made on Monday.
A family friend queued for over an hour to buy butter cookies as a New Years gift. I finished the entire tin within 6 weeks, and so had to either buy more (which would involve a return plane ticket and more queuing) or make some myself. I chose the latter, and they turned out to be just as good (if not better) than the store bought ones.
Though, considering how I only have 9 cookies (6 big and 3 little ones) left, I may have to bake the next batch soon. And get really fat as a result.
