Fridge clearing
...yeah. more food. ^^;
last night's dinner. there's a lot of pork and fish in the fridge, needed to clear that out. didn't have anything to cook with the fish, which is why i started with the pork. made a simple stir-fry with spanish onions and green capsicum. the end result: meat that tasted strangely similar to yoshinoya gyudon beef. interesting.
so for some reason, there was bouts of dizziness whenever i stood and walked. concluded 2 causes: lack of oxygen or low blood sugar (or combination of both). so it was off to the asian store in the building next door for fresh air and calpis. but they didn't have any calpis so i got ramune instead. first bottle of ramune for years--can't remember the last time i had one.
continuation of pork clearing exercise: stir-fried rice cakes, shanghai style. easy meal again: frozen rice cakes, shiitake mushrooms (rehydrated), pork strips and julienned chinese cabbage. actually this is the first time i've made this dish completely alone, and the fact that nothing was stuck (rice cakes are notorious for sticking to woks), nothing got hard and nothing got burnt was quite surpising. it, um, will also serve as lunch and possibly dinner tomorrw--this is definitely something that needs to be made in bulk. anyone wanna join me for a meal?
i should probably start a food blog, instead of spamming the neighbours who have no interest in what i eat. sorry.
random thought: the rice cakes...wouldn't be surprised if the boys had a similar dish (maybe with crab? or bamboo shoots and local shanghai veges? or maybe something just like what i made tonight?) in shanghai--it's a rather famous regional dish. hm. i wonder if they got to try authentic shoronpo... if not, they need a better guide. *points to self* XD
on a completely different note, USG in Aus special is now on the must watch list. can't believe i haven't forensically gone through those vids, after almost two years...*fails*
